Brett Grateful For Ashton Gate Experience

Jodie Brett says City Women relished the opportunity to play in front of the Ashton Gate crowd at the weekend.

More than 1,100 fans turned out in BS3 as City slipped to a 3-1 defeat to Reading in the Spring Series season opener.

“It was great to play in front of a big crowd,” said the 23 year old midfielder.

“A few of the men’s fans stayed as well as our fans, so there was a good atmosphere. It was exciting for us to be in the stadium all day and play on the pitch.”

On loan from Chelsea, the dynamic midfielder insists the squad doesn’t have time to dwell on the defeat due to the hectic schedule of the Spring Series.

She added: “We don’t have time to dwell or be upset, if we do that too much we will be in for a rude awakening against Yeovil.

“We are all about performance, there were lots of positives to take from the game, but we were disappointed with the actual result. We will review it this week, pick ourselves up and go again.”

The team have eight days until their next fixture and Brett says the squad will use the time wisely.

“We have a little break now and then we have three games in seven days,” Brett added.

“Next week will be a big week for us, this week is a chance for us to kick on and improve. For now, the mind-set is on Yeovil and we will continue to take it one day at a time. We are all very excited about next week’s game because it’s a derby.”

The BCWFC Skills Centre starts again this Friday, April 28th, kick-off 6pm. The sessions are majority led by Jodie Brett and Hayley Ladd.
