Bristol City Women defender Frankie Brown has been ruled out for up to six weeks through injury.
The Scotland international sustained the injury during an aerial challenge in the Vixens' SSE Women's FA cup fourth round loss to Yeovil Town.
Later scans were able to rule out any possible bone fractures but did illustrate possible lateral ankle ligament damage.
Bristol City Women's medical staff are pleased with Brown's current status and rehabilitation and expect the defender to return to the pitch within four to six weeks.
Manager Willie Kirk commented on Frankie's injury: “I’ve worked with Frankie for over six years now and know how resilient and determined a character she is. She will work through her rehab with 100% focus and determination, and it won’t be long before she returns to the pitch.
"You would love to go through a full season with no injuries, but the constant increase in the demands of the game, means that it’s virtually impossible to do so. With this in mind, we have put together a strong and competitive squad, and it will give others a chance to play and make a valuable contribution on the pitch.”
