Gladwin Returns To Bristol After Injury

Ben Gladwin has returned to Bristol City and is “touch and go” for Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship match against Ipswich Town (3pm).

The QPR loan midfielder returned to his parent club to undergo medical treatment after suffering a knee injury in training.

QPR’s physiotherapist opted to give Gladwin an injection before sending him back to the South West, and City’s medical team will now assess the former Swindon man before deciding whether he is fit to return to the squad.

“It’s touch and go at the moment,” Johnson told Bristol City Player HD. “He’s back with us after having an injection for the injury. It’s like he’s had oil in his joint.

“It’s just whether he’s fit enough to come back on to the bench, or whether we wait and return him to training on Monday.”

Korey Smith had a slight knock to his ankle but should be fine for the weekend.

“He’s a trooper and will be fine,” added Johnson, as he looked ahead to his sold-out first game in charge.
