Steve Cotterill believes Hull City “will take some stopping” on their march towards the Sky Bet Championship title.
It may still be November but Hull have stormed to the top of the table thanks to a ten-match unbeaten run – and they arrive at Ashton Gate tomorrow (12.30pm) on the back of five straight wins.
Cotterill told Bristol City Player HD: “What (Hull manager) Steve Bruce has managed to do is keep hold of the majority of his team from the Premier League, and if anything I think they’re actually stronger this year.
“When you look at them, their defence is very strong no matter who plays at the back. They’ve got (goalkeeper Allan) McGregor and (Curtis) Davies, and then it’s whether (Alex) Bruce, (Harry) Maguire or (Michael) Dawson play in there – they’ve always got a good partnership.
“It’s the same up front. They’ve got (Abel) Hernandez and (Chuba) Akpom, or (Adama) Diomande just off him.
“They’ve got a good team, a Premier League team really. They’ll take some stopping; I think they’ll win the league but I hope they don’t get any points from us en route.
“Having said all that, if we have a good day then we know we’re capable of securing a result. We just need to ensure we don’t make any mistakes.”
The game is being screened live by Sky Sports and Cotterill added: “Sky Sports have been good to us since I came here, so hopefully that can continue.”
Scott Wagstaff has returned to the squad after a calf problem, while young Max O’Leary will be on the bench following Ben Hamer’s return to Leicester City.
Cotterill hasn’t ruled out strengthening his squad with the loan additions of another goalkeeper and a midfielder, but says nothing is imminent.
The game is all-ticket, with no sales available on the day. Tickets will remain on general sale until midnight tonight (Friday) – click here to buy.
