INTERVIEW: Arthur Relishing Local Derby Against Yeovil

Chloe Arthur says the squad are excited at the prospect of securing local bragging rights ahead of the crunch Spring Series clash against Yeovil Ladies, next Wednesday (7pm) at the Viridor Stadium.

“Training has been really good this week,” said the City Women’s midfielder.

“We had a couple of days resting at the start of the week and then we’ve just been focusing on getting the ball moving again as we prepare for the test that Yeovil will bring.”

The 24-year-old midfielder insisted the team learnt a lot from the Spring Series opener with Reading.

“We knew there would be a big jump from WSL 2 to WSL 1, but we learnt a lot from the game,” she added. “There are a lot of positives to take and a lot of areas to work on, so we are feeling positive moving forward.”

Arthur says the squad are fully aware of what Yeovil will bring to the derby encounter next week.

“They’re going to be physically strong and they’re going to want to win just as much as us, as they too are looking for their first win after coming up with us from WSL 2,” said Arthur.

“We’ve got a lot of games in this Spring Series and we are taking it one game at a time. They are in a similar league position to us so we need to be at it from the first whistle on the day.

“Every game is different and every game presents a new challenge, which is the exciting thing about this Spring Series. We received fantastic support at Ashton Gate and I hope to see some of those fans make the trip with us to Yeovil.”

The BCWFC Skills Centre starts again this Friday, April 28th, kick-off 6pm. The sessions are majority led by Jodie Brett and Hayley Ladd.
