Little Loving Pre-Season Life

Mark Little is hoping a clean bill of health this summer can help recapture his best form in 2016/17.

The City right-back endured a stop-start year last season – not helped by the shoulder injury that ruled him out of the closing weeks of the double-winning campaign and in turn saw him playing catch-up in pre-season.

But now Little is fully fit again and eyeing a fresh start under head coach Lee Johnson.

“It’s one thing getting told by a physio and a fitness coach how important pre-season is, but to actually feel it myself means I understand that now,” he told City’s official YouTube channel.

“Last year my arm was just out of a sling and I had to wear a jacket in the heat, but this year is much better – I’m fit and raring to go.

“Being able to run freely means I can get a lot more out of the tour this year, so I’m much happier.

“I didn’t ever get going properly last year. I would have a good few games but it wasn’t fluent, so hopefully I can use this pre-season to have a better season this year.”

With former Ashton Gate loanee Adam Matthews returning to parent club Sunderland, the right-back position is firmly up for grabs.

“It’s completely open,” added Little. “There’s me and Luke (Ayling), there’s Zak (Vyner) coming through and whether they’ll bring in another right-back you never know, so it’s wide open.

“That’s a good thing, because you know you’ve got to have your wits about you and perform well for the whole of pre-season.”
