The new First Bristol bus services to Ashton Gate proved extremely popular on the opening day of the football season, with more than 300 fans taking advantage of the new routes.
City are keen to build on this success and expand the service further, especially as Ashton Gate gears up for its biggest crowd in 25 years when Newcastle United come to BS3 this Saturday (3pm kick-off).
The new routes helped cope with the largest football crowd for three years on the opening day, as 17,635 supporters visited Ashton Gate to witness City’s 2-1 win over Wigan Athletic.
The three routes are AG1 (Portway Park & Ride), AG2 (Brislington Park & Ride) and AG4 (from Whitchurch). In addition, the popular Abus route continues from Bristol Temple Meads.
Supporters can purchase the Bristol Inner Zone Day Ticket for £4 (adult), £3 (young person / student – age 16 to 21) and £2 (child – under 16 travelling alone), although please remember that a child (aged under 16) accompanying an adult goes free.
This ticket allows unlimited travel for a day on all First operated services in the Bristol Inner Zone, as well as special Ashton Gate services.
Special First Bristol services are operational on all home matchdays for both City and Bristol Rugby, who begin their first campaign back in the Aviva Premiership in September.
