Marlon Pack is aiming to match the progression of the club after signing a new two-year deal.

The 25-year-old midfielder has secured his future at Ashton Gate until the summer of 2018, with a further year option.

He has already spent three seasons in BS3, and admits things have improved dramatically in that time.

“The transition the club has made is apparent with the stadium and the promotion,” he told Bristol City Player HD.

“When you look at the squad, aside from the lads who came through the Academy, it’s me, Flinty and Frankie (Fielding) who are the longest-serving ones.

“The club continues to progress and I’m really pleased with my own progression as part of that – hopefully that can continue.

“I’m really pleased to have signed the new deal. I think everyone is aware of how much I love it here at Bristol City. To be part of it for longer is great.”

He added: “I enjoyed stepping up to the Championship last season and now I need to maintain my consistency. I’m getting older but I’m learning all the time.

“With the likes of Gary O’Neil coming in, it can only help my game to learn from someone who has played all those games.

“The gaffer (Lee Johnson) is also on at me a lot, having played in my position. He’s a bright, young coach with good ideas, and I can only improve under him.”

Of City’s hopes in 2016/17, Pack said: “You always go into a season with high hopes. We know it’s tough with all the money being spent in the Championship.

“We’ve made a good start and need to build on that.”
