Vacancy: Bristol Jets Community Badminton Coach

Bristol Sport Foundation (BSF) is inviting badminton coaches to join its expanding team as a Bristol Jets Community Badminton Coach.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious badminton coach to deliver high quality badminton coaching to children and young adults through our Forever Sport primary school PE and sports coaching programme, within Greater Bristol.

From September to May, you will also support the Avon Schools Badminton Association head coach for five hours on Saturdays at the junior county coaching sessions.

The post-holder will also have a unique opportunity play an active role in the development and launch of new badminton clubs in Greater Bristol, as well as other targeted programmes to increase the number of people playing badminton.

Individual Requirements: As a minimum, you must hold a Level 2 badminton coaching qualification and DBS Enhanced Disclosure Certificate. All of our coaches are required to gain a First Aid qualification within six months of working with BSF (we will help to identify a suitable course and the course fees will be paid for by BSF) and undertake specific programme training on delivery of Badminton England’s Racket Pack.

You will be able to communicate effectively and present a highly professional image when representing BSF; establish positive working relationships with professional staff in schools and other venues, and balance a determined application of the role with a sense of fun and enjoyment.

In addition, you will possess a valid UK driving licence and have an understanding and commitment to equal opportunities in employment and sport and an understanding of individual responsibility in complying with Health and Safety policies and arrangements.

To succeed in this role, you must have experience of coaching badminton to young people in a range of environments. The initial hours will be 25 per week with expectation that these hours will increase in the short to medium term as new initiatives are launched. It is critical that you are motivated/able to help grow the role into a full-time position.
