Mr Johnson was shown around the South Stand concourse which has been transformed into an NHS vaccination centre.
“What we’re doing here in Bristol today is launching the first of the mass vaccination centres here. We will have 50 of these by the end of the month, that’s in addition to the 233 hospital sites and the thousand-plus GP sites and the first go of about 200 community pharmacies and we will be ramping them all up.”
He went on to add: “It’s a huge ask of the NHS, of the army, of the St John’s Ambulance all the other volunteers that you are seeing here today. Loads and loads of people are coming together to deliver this and there’s no doubt that it is a massively stretching target. We believe it is achievable and we are going to put everything into it.”
