Local singers from six to 86-years-old will perform at Ashton Gate for Bristol City’s game against Fulham.
Handfuls of Harmony is a community choir created by the South West Bristol Cooperative Learning Trust and is open to anyone living and working in South Bristol.
Ten primary schools and three adult choirs have come together to form Handfuls of Harmony, led by Director Ali Orbaum: “The choir is so excited to be performing at Ashton Gate in front of a sell-out crowd of around 16,000. It is a wonderful opportunity for all involved and particularly poignant to be performing in the new South Stand which has replaced the old ‘singing stand’ which was the Wedlock. We hope it will really inspire the community.”
In 2014 the choir won ITV’s People’s Millions public vote which was thanks to 8,000 votes of support from the local community. Winning enabled them to secure funding and in April this year they set up an a cappella singing project to offer more people the chance to get involved with the choir.
Handfuls of Harmony will perform before kick-off in the South Stand concourse on Saturday from 2pm and will provide half-time entertainment from the Heineken Lounge terrace.
