“I’m really proud to be officially announcing this partnership today and unveiling our new Heineken Lounge. The Heineken brand is one that is strongly associated with top class sport, from Champions League to this year’s Rugby World Cup.
“Since bringing Heineken on-board last year it has been great to see the development of the relationship. The fact that Heineken has chosen to sponsor our brand new hospitality suite in the South Stand is testimony to the company’s commitment to Bristol Sport and the rebuild of Ashton Gate.”
The new contract sees Heineken installed as the official supplier of lager and keg ale at Ashton Gate for the next five years.
Ashton Gate Stadium is currently half-way through a £45m rebuild which will be completed in the summer of 2016. Once finished it will become a 27,000-capacity stadium and the largest conference and events facility in the south west as well as being the home of Bristol City FC and Bristol Rugby.
Heineken’s south west sales director, Bruce Wellman, said: “This is a really proud moment for me. I’ve been part of the Bristol Sport journey for last couple of years and it is great to see the development of that relationship and the opening of the new Heineken Lounge in the South Stand.
“The new agreement will provide fans with a fantastic choice of draught and packaged ale, lagers and ciders including John Smith’s; Foster’s; Heineken®; Kronenbourg and Bulmers. It is a unique proposition to be involved with Bristol Sport and I’m looking forward to a great season of football and rugby ahead!”
