Santander UK has teamed up with the charity to help deliver the seventh edition of the annual cycling event. The new partnership with Santander is more than just a financial sponsorship as the bank will be actively involved with the charity as it looks to support local communities and to help people and businesses prosper.

Dave Shalliday, Regional Director South West, Santander Corporate and Commercial said: The partnership with the Bristol Sport Foundation is an example of our commitment to supporting the communities within which we operate, and our goal of being a bank that is simple, personal and fair.

“We are really looking forward to being a part of the ‘Break The Cycle’ event, helping to raise vital funding for young disadvantaged people in the local area.”

“Santander helps support and create opportunities for disadvantaged people all over the UK. This fits perfectly with the aims and ideals of Bristol Sport Foundation and its partner charities.”

Break The Cycle 2017 will take place on Sunday, 18th June – setting off and finishing at Bristol’s state-of-the-art Ashton Gate Stadium, the home of Bristol City and Bristol Rugby clubs. For the first time, this year’s event offers cyclists the choice of three routes of varying distance – 35, 65 or 100 miles – while absorbing the South West’s breathtaking countryside along the way.

In keeping with the theme of choice, cyclists can also nominate the individual charity they wish to fundraise for – choosing between Bristol City Community Trust, Bristol Rugby Community Foundation, Bristol Flyers Community, Bristol Sport Foundation or Bath Rugby Foundation.

Ben Breeze, Chief Community Officer at Bristol Sport Foundation said: “Santander helps support and create opportunities for disadvantaged people all over the UK. This fits perfectly with the aims and ideals of Bristol Sport Foundation and its partner charities.

“Bristol Sport Foundation was established to develop and coordinate the delivery of community sport in Bristol and beyond and this partnership will help us to continue our award-winning and life-changing work cross the city.

“We are delighted to have Santander on board and look forward to working with them.”
