We will be reminding everyone attending the SGS College Arena and Ashton Gate Stadium this weekend for Bristol Flyers v Leicester Riders, Bristol City v Fulham and Bristol Bears v Harlequins, and other events, of optimum hygiene practices.

Information posters reinforcing the official medical advice for everyone to take personal responsibility for excellent personal hygiene will be displayed. 

COVID-19 can be spread via droplets from the nose and mouth and can be transmitted on to the hands and passed on via a handshake.

Players will therefore not be shaking hands, signing autographs or stopping for photographs on arrival or departure from Ashton Gate Stadium.

While regular attendance by Bristol City players in the Family Area in the Lansdown Stand is an important element of Bristol City’s community engagement on matchdays, this will not take place until further notice.

Mascots for the games against Fulham and Harlequins will continue with the players encouraged to walk out on to the pitch with their hands on the mascots’ shoulders rather than holding their hands.

The English Football League has determined that the Fair Play handshake will not take place between players and match officials at this weekend’s matches and until further notice.

We trust that supporters will understand the circumstances leading to this decision.
