We have been lucky that we have been able to rely on the help of the amazing people at Burges Salmon LLP to help out with our Reading Recovery programme delivery.
Reading Recovery is a key part of our Nascence programme and focusses on improving reading and literacy levels amongst primary school children in Greater Bristol. The team at Burges Salmon LLP have been supporting a number of children at St Peter’s Primary School in Pilning who have been identified as ‘reluctant readers’ and who are dropping behind their classmates with their literacy.
As testament to the quality of work put in by our Burges-Salmon LLP volunteers, one parent of a child on the programme gave this glowing feedback “He can’t stop reading the book. He lost his love of reading a little and this has certainly brought it back”.
Kirsty Green-Mann, Head of Corporate Responsibility at Burges Salmon LLP, expressed her enthusiasm for the programme; “We’re delighted to be able to partner with Bristol Sport Foundation on such an important programme. Given the pandemic it is paramount we do all that we can so inequalities aren’t further exacerbated. Literacy is such an important building block for future success. Hats off to the foundation for innovating and enabling the firm’s volunteers.”
Paul Glanville, Corporate Partnerships Manager at BSF, said ‘Burges Salmon and Bristol Sport Foundation are united in their desire to engage and inspire our community, to make a positive difference to those often living in disadvantage. We are most grateful to Burges Salmon for supporting our Reading Recovery pilot programme, the feedback so far from everyone involved has been fantastic, we can’t wait to continue working together in the new year’
