Managing director, Guy Newell said: “It’s fantastic. We’ve been part of the journey since day one and it’s really great news that Butcombe Bitter remains the official beer of both Bristol Rugby and Bristol City Football Club.

“We’re naturally thrilled and looking forward to working with the Bristol Sport team”.

Ashton Gate Stadium is currently half-way through a £45m rebuild which will see it transformed into a 27,000-capacity multi-sport stadium in the summer of 2016.

Andrew Billingham, Bristol Sport CEO commented: “It is great that we can confirm Butcombe’s continued involvement. As the West Country’s most popular bitter it is crucial for us to secure what the fans want and underline our commitment to using the best local suppliers”.

Butcombe Bitter currently pours in over 600 pubs and clubs within a 50-mile radius of Bristol, and will now be available seven days a week in the new Ashton Gate Sports Bar.

Guy Newell went on to add: “This is a big investment for us as a local company but we are very happy to be backing the teams at Ashton Gate. We love the plans and the ambition of Bristol Sport and look forward to seeing the completion of the stadium come next summer!”.
