The Forever Champions programme takes mainstream physical education and sports coaching to the hospital to bring a smile to the faces of the children there.

Alice, whose son, Aidan took part in last week’s session, said: “After a long period of time in hospital, getting out in the fresh air and doing some physical activity really helped Aidan.

“It’s been great for his mental wellbeing too. He was asking me when he could come back again to see the coaches for the afternoon session.”

Caitlin Moss, Deputy Divisional Director for Strategy and Business Planning, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with the Bristol Sport Foundation to deliver inclusive and fun activities for children in hospital and their siblings.

“The activities bring much joy to those involved and we are lucky to have the lovely BSF coaches visiting the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children to deliver these sessions and support the wellbeing of our patients and their families.”
