With over 100 students in attendance, it was a chance for head of education Chris Stenner, and his education department, to praise the students for their tireless efforts and accomplishments in the first term of the 2016/17 academic year.

To make the event more memorable, Rich Horlock – the futsal academy manager at SGS – presented to the students, informing them of the opportunities available within futsal at SGS upon their course completion.

The Trust’s scholar committee also spoke, outlining their plans to send Bristol City kit to poverty-stricken children in Africa, informing their peers of how they can get involved to give the project maximum impact.

To conclude the celebratory event, each sports lecturer announced their scholar of the term. A huge congratulations goes to the following students for their accolade:

Rhys Potter
India Cooper
Gabby Wootten
Tyler Ugbah
Robbie Trippe-Edwards
Dan Chivers
Conrad Britton – overall scholar of the term

“These student updates are always a great occasion. It is one of the only times we are able to get the majority of our students together, due to their other commitments, and celebrate all the success attained,” said Stenner.

“The first term has been extremely encouraging. The students have all shown a fantastic attitude to their studies and the practical elements incorporated within their respective courses.

“We’re extremely grateful to Rich for his time. It is always nice to have someone from outside the Trust present at these events because it is a chance for the students to learn of opportunities outside of the Trust, which can consequently inspire them to achieve greater qualifications during their time with us, so they can go on to further studies.

“I hope our students have an enjoyable half-term. They have earned a rest and hopefully they will return refreshed, ready for another term.”
