26,169 supporters were treated to a sensational spectacle in BS3 as the reigning Women’s EURO champions put on a show under the lights after Italy defeated Korea Republic 2-1 in the first part of the double-header to conclude the 2023 tournament.

Chloe Kelly and Leah Williamson both scored braces for a rampant England while Lucy Bronze and Julie Biesmans’ own goal completed a dominant display from Sarina Wiegman’s side as they celebrated another trophy in front of an adoring crowd in Bristol.

There was a festival atmosphere in the fan village and Ashton Gate concourses prior to kick-off, with thousands descending on the stadium to make the most of live music, face-painting and freestyle drumming from the magnificent Percussion Theatre.

The feel-good feeling continued once the action on the pitch got underway and reached a fever pitch by the time the Lionesses took centre stage in front of a packed-out stadium.

And after England hit Belgium for six to complete a perfect Arnold Clark Cup campaign and defend the trophy, fans took to social media to toast a memorable night in BS3.

Tim McSweeney said: “Took my eldest to his first footy match tonight and the Lionesses put on a show for him at Ashton Gate Stadium. His new favourite player, after Harry Kane, is Chloe Kelly and I can see why. What a baller. Life-long memories made, and a love of the game passed on. He can’t wait to go again.”

“Everything was perfect,” said Chris Chard. “Transport organisation, helpful staff at the P&R pick up sites, drivers were helpful as always, signage around the stadium, stewards, no very long queues at the toilets, great atmosphere, stewards brilliant, especially the regular ones.”
