Bristol Sport Foundation support Help Bristol's Homeless on World Kindness Day

Today, Friday 13th November is celebrated around the world as World Kindness Day. On this day, we all make a special attempt to make the world a better place by celebrating and promoting good deeds and pledging acts of kindness, either as individuals or as organisations.

So, Bristol Sport Foundation (BSF) staff member Lynne Giles thought it would be a great day to co-ordinate a random act of kindness for Help Bristol’s Homeless by supporting their Rucksack Appeal.

By grabbing an old ruck sack and filling it with useful items, Lynne felt “It was something really simple that we could do to support individuals and make a difference to the homeless people in Bristol.”

“Lots of people are struggling during lockdown but as we head into the winter months, I started to worry about those who didn’t even have a place to call home at the coldest time of the year.”

When Lynne told her colleagues at BSF what she had planned they all jumped on board and collected 90 rucksacks filled with items that the charity could use and we hope to beat the target of 100 by next week.

Help Bristol’s Homeless aim to change the face of homelessness in Bristol by offering gated communities of self-contained micro flats, created from shipping containers, and the amenities needed to support their residents. They provide temporary accommodation for more than 15 residents until they can each move on to a more permanent home.
