Bristol Sport Foundation welcomes Huxley Studios as Nascence partners

Bristol Sport Foundation is delighted to welcome Bristol-based film production company, Huxley Studios as Nascence partners.

Huxley is a full-service film production studio specialising in creating branded content that draws an emotional response across the globe.

They kick-started their partnership with the Foundation with a stunning video depiction of the Covid-19 food parcel delivery scheme, based at Ashton Gate and activated by volunteers from each of the sporting charities based at the stadium.

Alex Try, Creative Director at Huxley, said: “Over the last six years, our team has travelled the globe and produced hundreds of films.

“We’ve seen some amazing corners of the world; from the tundras of Alaska to the favelas of Brazil. But we’ve always wanted to balance our work overseas with projects and initiatives that are closer to home.

“Over time, our work has focussed in on story driven content for sports and brands. So, when we looked to make more connections locally, Bristol Sport Foundation was an obvious door to knock.

“We wanted to seek out inspiring stories in the local Bristol area and after a conversation with BSF it became clear there was a lot of potential for collaboration.

“As well as the prospect of creating some great work together, we also wanted to give back to the city that has been our home for so many years. Through our work, we’ve seen the same universal theme repeated; that sport is a powerful force for good that has the strength to transform lives and galvanise whole communities.

“It’s a message that we’ve come to believe strongly in and one that has never been more vital in the context of today’s socio-political turbulence.

“Getting involved with the amazing work BSF are doing was the perfect opportunity to blend our passion for film making whilst giving back and strengthening our place and sense of community in Bristol.”

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the Bristol Sport charities – Bristol Bears Community Foundation, Bristol City Robins Foundation and Bristol Sport Foundation – as well as Ashton Gate Stadium and FareShare UK, have come together to provide food for those most in need in the local community.

In total, more than 25,000 meals have been delivered to people in Bristol – and Huxley’s poetic representation, with voiceover from Bristolian actor, Joe Sims, perfectly showcased the impact of the project.

“The Foundation explained how they had diverted their resources and come together to deliver thousands of food parcels to the community - we really felt as though it was a story that needed to be captured on film and the perfect opportunity for us to get involved in a positive local cause,” added Alex.

“We wanted to create a film that showcased the inspiring work the team were doing whilst highlighting the bigger themes of community and the spirit of collaboration in testing times.

“It was a brilliant project to be involved in and quite inspirational to see all the people that have connected through the common objective of giving back.

“It was a mission made all the more poignant in the context of the crisis and one we hope to be part of in the future.”

Foundation Partnerships Manager, Paul Glanville, said: “We’re delighted to team up with Huxley Studios as a new Nascence partner.

“The support of our partners enables us to develop and grow our community programmes, helping to change lives in Bristol through the combined power of sport and education, and great people who care.

“As a Nascence Partner, Huxley are amongst great company, joining fellow professionals from the Bristol business community with a strong sense of social purpose, committed to working together to have a positive impact in our society.”
