Bristol Tennis Star Katie Swan 'So Happy' To Receive Wimbledon Wildcard

Bristol tennis star Katie Swan says she is ‘so happy’ to have received a wildcard for this year’s Wimbledon Championships, which get underway on Monday, 27th June.

Swan is one of six British players to receive a wildcard for the tournament, alongside Laura Robson, Liam Broady, Alex Ward, James Ward and Tara Moore – and the 17-year-old says she is grateful to the All England Lawn Tennis Club for the opportunity.

She said on Twitter: “I am so happy to have received a main draw wildcard for ‪@Wimbledon!! Thank you so much to AELTC for this amazing opportunity!"

Swan, who grew up in Abbots Leigh and attended The Downs School and Bristol Grammar School, is now based in Kansas, United States, having moved there in 2013.

She is currently ranked 440th in the world.
