The money raised from Bristol City’s annual Community Match against Hengrove Athletic will be used to make ‘much required ground improvements’ at Norton Lane, says chairman Mike Greatbanks.
More than £10,000 was raised at the pre-season fixture, which took place on Sunday, July 10th and saw City run out 7-0 winners thanks to goals from Marlon Pack, Aden Flint, Josh Brownhill, Kieran Agard, Lee Tomlin (2) and Jonny Smith.
Both the Western League club and the Bristol City Community Trust have taken an even split of the funds raised - and Greatbanks says plans are already in place to put the money to good use.
He said: “We will start to use the money for much required ground improvements.
“We have taken delivery of an old cabin which we will refurbish and make a physio room, which on first team match days can also be used as a female match official changing room.
“We hope that the Bristol City annual Community Trust match will increase the reputation and popularity of the club with potential new players of all ages, supporters and sponsors.”
