Community Trust Gala Dinner A Huge Success

Bristol City Community Trust hosted its annual BTEC education awards evening on Thursday – an exclusive event for scholars, parents and special guests to celebrate the high levels of academic success attained in the past 12 months.

The evening saw more than 180 guests congregate for the announcement of the much-anticipated male and female golden boot winners, most improved player across each of the six teams, players’ player and overall scholar of the year.

To make the night more memorable, a number of distinguished guests attended. These included Nick Warren (Assistant Principal at Swindon Academy), Andy Marsh (Chief Constable of Avon and Somerset Constabulary), Mike Evans (Director of Operations at The English Football League Trust), Chris Saunders (TVS Education Programme Manager) and Community Trust Trustees Cecile Gillard, Dave Baker and John Greenwood.

Commenting on the event, head of education Chris Stenner said: “The evening was a huge success and it was very pleasing to see so many people turn out to support the Trust and students.

“The students have been a huge credit to the Trust and themselves and the success stories just goes to show how important this education is to the community.

“I would like to wish all of the second year students who graduated the best of luck in their journey outside of the programme and I am really looking forward to seeing the first year students return to Ashton Gate in September.”

Community Trust director Amy Kington added: “In sport it is all too easy to get moving onto the next big challenge before we celebrate our successes and achievements.

“Last night’s awards, honours the incredible results that has been achieved by our students and staff.

“The event gave us the opportunity to celebrate the success and contribution that our education programme makes to the City.  Thank you to everyone who made it a truly special occasion.”

Places are still available on each of the Trust’s education courses for 2016/17. Further information can be found here.
