Community Trust Launches Brand New Education Course

In partnership with the University of the West of England, Bristol City Community Trust has launched an innovative three-year BA (Hons) Sports Business and Entrepreneurship course ahead of the 2017/18 academic year.

The first specialised sports degree using team entrepreneurship methods, will be delivered at the newly-redeveloped Ashton Gate Stadium and students will have access to purpose-built classrooms and facilities, replicating a professional office environment.

This specialised sports degree is designed for those with a passion for business and want to develop an in-depth knowledge for how to build, grow and sustain a sporting organisation.

Students will learn in a practice-led environment, coached in teams and work together on projects, while attending structured learning sessions.

There are no lectures. Regular training sessions will be held with the team coach who will support and guide students’ team company, while mapping their learning journey in a contract that defines their path to personal mastery.

Students will have the opportunity to learn from and be inspired by the real-life experiences of professionals from a wide variety of sports backgrounds, including retailers, Bristol City, Bristol Rugby, Bristol Flyers as well as business and social entrepreneurs.

While undergoing a typical working week, students will receive six hours of ‘team coaching’ per week over 36 weeks of the year.

Students will be taught using team entrepreneurship methods in the UK, giving students the opportunity to build, grow and sustain their own sports company while gaining a sports business degree.

Students will work in teams of up to 20 members, earning money and gaining valuable entrepreneurial experience. A number of modules will be covered, alongside keeping office hours, attending training sessions with an experienced team coach and professional workshops that support them to build their knowledge and expertise needed to develop their entrepreneurial methods.

This innovative course ensures graduates are confident, highly-motivated, employable and resilient. It gives students valuable sports business skills and industry contact, so they can hit the ground running in their career.

This course costs UK residents £9,250 per academic year, while international students will be expected to pay £12,500. There will also be an additional £300 fee per year for inactive costs.

UWE are hosting an open day on Saturday (October 5th) and the Trust will be in attendance to speak with prospective students about the course. To book on to this event, click here. (http://www1.uwe.ac.uk/study/opendays/undergraduateopendays.aspx.)
