Gloucestershire Sign Andrew Tye For NatWest T20 Blast

Gloucestershire Cricket have announced that Andrew Tye is returning to the club in 2017 to play in the NatWest T20 Blast.

The 30-year-old right arm fast bowler was a key player in helping the team reach the T20 Quarter-Final after finishing top of the South Group.

A team mate of Gloucestershire’s Michael Klinger and Cameron Bancroft at Perth Scorchers, Tye became a fans’ favourite in 2016 with his passion and enthusiasm for the game on and off the field. Supporters will know how crucial he is, both as a death bowler and a lower order batsman.

Tye said: “I'm delighted to be returning to Gloucestershire again in 2017. It's a great club with a lot of good people and I thoroughly enjoyed last season.

"I’m looking forward to contributing again to the club's T20 campaign and hopefully we can build on last season and go all the way to win the trophy in 2017.”

Tye had a fantastic 2016 campaign with Gloucestershire in the T20 Blast, picking up an impressive 18 wickets in 14 matches, with a match best of 3-16 against Surrey at The Brightside Ground, Bristol in July.

Gloucestershire Head Coach Richard Dawson said: “It’s great to have AJ back for the T20 competition in 2017. He was a valuable player in 2016 for us and helped us get to the Quarter-Final making some outstanding individual contributions along the way in the group matches”.

Tye will be in action for the Perth Scorchers in the Australian Big Bash League (BBL) which begins on Friday, 23rd December when they take on the Adelaide Strikers.
