Jack Taylor Signs New Contract At Gloucestershire

Jack Taylor believes there is more silverware to be won at Gloucestershire after signing a contract extension with the club until the end of the 2019 season.

Taylor made his debut for Gloucestershire in 2010 after coming through the Oxfordshire age groups and the club’s academy.  Since then he has featured in all formats of the game on a regular basis for the first team.

The 25-year-old will go down in Gloucestershire folklore after being named man-of-the-match in the 2015 Royal London One-Day Cup win over Surrey at Lord’s.

The off-spinner and destructive middle order batsman smashed 35 off 26 balls and took 3-43 – including the key wickets of Sangakarra and Burns – before taking the winning catch on the boundary.

Taylor said: “I am very happy to extend to the end of 2019. We have a great squad and coaching staff and I feel that there is more silverware to come.”

He put in some breathtaking performances with the bat in the NatWest T20 Blast, smashing 44* against Middlesex in July to help secure Gloucestershire a home quarter-final. Taylor also scored an unforgettable 80 runs in the quarter-final loss to Durham as he single-handedly carried Gloucestershire to within touching distance of an historic victory.

Gloucestershire Chief Executive Will Brown said: “At such an exciting time for the club it is fantastic to see yet another of our young stars commit to Gloucestershire.

"Both on and off the pitch, Jack is a crowd favourite and his drive to constantly improve - shown by his hugely improved batting performances - will no doubt keep him as a key member of the squad well into the future.”

Head Coach Richard Dawson expressed his delight at Taylor signing an extension, he said: “I’m delighted that Jack has extended his contract.

"He has performed in all formats over the past few years and has a lot to contribute to Gloucestershire County Cricket Club in the future.”
