Jets Sign Former England International

Bristol Jets Badminton are delighted to welcome Chris Coles on board for their debut National Badminton League (NBL) season.

It is a homecoming for Coles, who is relishing the prospect of representing his home city.

Coles, 23, joins from Team Derby, where he was a key part of their 2014/15 National Badminton League-winning campaign.  The former England international has been globally ranked in the top 40 in the men’s doubles.

Coles said: "I am delighted to be returning to my home city of Bristol to play at the elite level of my sport domestically. It is fantastic that Bristol Sport has created the Jets franchise to open up a pathway for players in the South West and I’m looking forward to helping them become one of the league’s premier teams".

"I had a great time at Team Derby and it was a tough choice, however the attraction of playing for my home city, in addition to being a part of the Bristol Sport model, made this the right decision for me".

Bristol Jets head coach Bex Pantaney stated: "We are delighted to announce the signing of Chris Coles, a player who I know well and have coached on numerous occasions. Chris is from Avon, having represented the area at county premier league level, and we believe that his passion and on-court demeanour makes him a perfect candidate to be a real leader for the Jets.

"Coles is a high-profile and exciting competitor, signing Coles ensures that the Jets will adopt the trademark Bristol Sport approach of developing and fielding local talent, with more to come!".

You can watch Chris and the Jets in action at the SGS WISE Arena when the NBL season begins in October. In the meantime, keep up to date via twitter (@jetsbadminton), and the official Bristol Jets website.
