Jets U12 win bronze at National Finals

A Bristol Jets U12 team, made up of three boys and two girls, continued their success from the regional play-offs by winning a bronze medal in the National Finals held at the National Badminton Centre in Milton Keynes.

Badminton England put on an amazing show for the players. With umpires and score boards this was the biggest event the players had participated in to date.

After an understandably nervous start from the players, Jack and Isaac put in an assured doubles performance to put the Jets’ first point on the board.

It came down to a nail-biting final match, with crucial wins from Lucy and Isobel taking it to the very last game of the day. With the overall match score at 2-2, the Jets needed to win the mixed to secure the bronze medal – and Josh and Isobel held their nerve to the delight of the rest of the team.

Jets U12 team: Lucy Morling, Isobel Spence, Isaac Buckingham, Joshua Purcell, Jack Warren.
Coaches: Thomas Marshall and Claire Buckingham.
