Liam Norwell Extends Gloucestershire Contract

Gloucestershire seam bowler Liam Norwell has signed a contract extension to keep him at the county until 2018.

The 24-year-old, who made his debut in the 2011 season, took 39 wickets in the Specsavers County Championship in 2016 and also made history with the bat - completing his maiden hundred and becoming the first night watchman in Gloucestershire’s history to pass three figures.

Liam Norwell said: "I'm really happy to have signed an extension with Gloucestershire Cricket, it's a club I love playing for and it's a great changing room to be a part of.”

“I believe as a group of players we're on the verge of something special and I look forward to being a part of it."

Speaking on the contract extension, Gloucestershire Chief Executive Will Brown said: “Liam has established himself as a fantastic player for Gloucestershire and following a break-through red-ball season in 2015 he continues to improve, playing some quality white ball cricket and also having the potential to frustrate bowlers as his night-watchman century against Derbyshire in 2016 showed.

"Liam choosing to extend his contract is great news for the Club and we look forward to more great cricket over the next couple of years.”
