Bristol Sport Foundation’s Community Development Manager, Tom Monks has reflected on a blockbuster academic year for the Forever Sport programme.
Forever Sport - a national curriculum-backed multi-sport primary school programme – saw more than 6,000 children receive a minimum of five hours high-quality sports coaching through the 2016/17 academic year, while more than 1,000 youngsters from the programme attended a Bristol City, Bristol Rugby or Bristol Flyers fixture.
In total, 34 primary schools in the greater Bristol area received the Forever Sport PE and Sports coaching programme, with Bristol Sport Foundation staff delivering 4,347 coaching hours.
The programme is already fully booked for terms one and two of the 2017/18 academic year.
“We are extremely proud of the number of children engaged in high quality PE and sport through our Forever Sport programme in 2016-2017,” said Tom Monks, Community Development Manager.
“The opportunity to attend a Bristol Sport match day adds an aspirational dimension to the programme that further inspires participation in sport.
“We have added new sports to Forever Sport for 2017/18 to increase the reach and impact of the offer.”
