Nascence case study: ‘Community spirit inspired us to support Walking Rugby’

Bristol Funeral Directors’ marketing manager, Andrew Gunningham says the independent family firm’s sponsorship of the Community Foundation’s Walking Rugby programme, was inspired by a visit to one such training session.

The firm’ support is another example of the impressive business and community partnership work being driven by the Bristol Sport Foundation’s Nascence Project, providing new and innovative opportunities for local and national business.

And Gunningham says the ‘enjoyment and friendships created within the group’ were a big factor in their decision to offer support.

“Having been supporters of Bristol Sport through the Lansdown Club for a number of years, we were aware of the work conducted by Bristol Rugby throughout the community,” he said.

“When the opportunity came to visit a Walking Rugby session, it was clear to see the enjoyment and friendships created within the group.

“As a family business, focused on supporting the local community - and having a long association with Combination rugby - it felt natural to provide sponsorship to the Walking Rugby, as well as giving time by volunteering at the sessions.”
