Bristol City Women’s Manager Willie Kirk believes his side are in a good place ahead of their Spring Series opener with Reading Women at Ashton Gate Stadium.
Saturday’s fixture will kick off at 6pm, following the men’s fixture against Barnsley.
“We’ve had a couple of niggles that are clearing up, I think we are in a good place now for this busy period,” said Kirk.
The Vixens received news this week that Millie Farrow will miss the start of the upcoming season through injury.
“She had surgery on Wednesday morning so it’s a first step back to recovery and the first step will be getting her back on the pitch albeit for a number of months.
“It’s a blow, she is a big character in the changing room so everybody is a little bit affected by it you know but she’ll bounce back. In terms of the rest of the squad we are in a good position,” he added.
It will be the first time City Women side have played at Ashton Gate since their historic Champions League victory over Barcelona and Kirk is encouraging fans of the club to stay behind after the men’s game and cheer on the Vixens.
“It just adds that little bit extra to the game.
“If we can get as many people to stay behind and come along to our game it’ll be a huge boost for the girls to have a big crowd cheering them on,” said The Vixens Manager.
Kirk also believes that the Spring Series environment will be healthy for his young side.
“It’s exciting in terms of there is always something to look forward to, everybody gets opportunities in the spring series which is going to be quite a good environment to be in I think,” he said.
Turnstiles for the Bristol City Women’s game will open at 5:15 in the West Stand only (Turnstiles 6-10).
