Report: Mixed Weekend For Hall

Connor Hall is lying in third place in the British Senior Karting Championship, despite suffering engine issues in Round One and a wipe out in Round Two at Shennington last weekend.

Connor had a successful qualifying day at Round Two of the British Senior Championship at Shennington. On the opening day, Connor qualified in sixth place after struggling to find a clear track. Next it was the heats where Connor managed to secure another sixth and a third place putting him in a strong position for the Finals.

Sunday was race day and Connor was fifth on the grid for the first final. Connor knew he just needed a solid performance to keep his position in the Championship and after a fairly good start he managed to hold sixth place after the first lap. Connor began to slowly catch and pass drivers and with a few laps remaining he dived into third place but couldn't quite catch the leading two drivers in the time remaining.

In the Main Final Connor began in third place but with a difficult start he ended up eighth but he was confident, with a fifteen minute race, he could regain some places. Connor faced some engine power issues which made him vulnerable on the two main straights but he battled on and worked his way up to third. The front two drivers were quickly breaking away so Connor had to find a way to bridge the gap but with a few laps to go the group of drivers had big crash which took Connor off the track and back to nearly last place. This set back didn't stop Connor who battled back through the pack to an impressive 14th at the flag.

Despite the disappointment in the last race, Connor's rivals also had a mixed weekend meaning he still remains in a great position in a very tight Championship with five rounds to play for.

Round three is at Buckmore Park Circuit near Kent on June, 13th-14th.
