Bristol City leave it late to beat Crawley Town

Bristol City 1-0 Crawley Town

Bristol City left it late for the second weekend running as unlikely hero Luke Ayling struck a priceless winner three minutes from time to break the resistance of Sky Bet League One draw specialists Crawley Town at Ashton Gate.

City had started the game terrifically well but looked like paying the price for failing to convert their early dominance into an opening goal as the visitors became an increasingly tough nut to crack.

Bristol Rugby confirm home tie in B&I Cup quarter-final

Connacht Eagles 14-32 Bristol Rugby

Olly Robinson notched a hat-trick as Bristol confirmed a home quarter-final with a comfortable 32-14 defeat of Connacht Eagles.

The flanker – who scored three when the sides met in October – helped the visitors to a sixth straight B&I Cup win at the Galway Sports Ground.

BBC Sports Personality of the Year - Making Bristol proud!

Several Bristol sport stars were honoured this weekend at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year. 

Bristol Rugby Ladies were well represented as Danielle Waterman, Sophie Hemming and Amber Reed joined their England teammates onstage as they were voted “Sports Team of the Year”. 

Earlier in the evening fellow Bristol sportswoman Claudia Fragapane won “Young Sports Personality Of The Year”. The ceremony, held at the Hydro was the venue where the 17 year-old won four Commonwealth Games gold medals for England in the summer.

Flyers crash out of BBL Cup

Glasgow Rocks 84-57 Bristol Flyers

Bristol Flyers great run in the BBL Cup was halted at the semi-final stage this weekend by an impressive Glasgow Rocks side.

Rocks' flight to Bristol was disrupted by on Friday meaning that tip-off was delayed by an hour. This disruption didn't seem to unsettle the Scottish outfit who ended the first leg two points up. A Flyers side featuring new signing Bree Perine couldn't claw back the advantage from the two-times BBL Cup runners-up in the second leg, falling to a 161-132 aggregate defeat.
