Aryana Bartlett who plays for Coombe Dingle Tennis Club competed in the Nike Winter Tour Finals Invitational at the weekend finishing a promising fifth in the national under 10s tournament.
Held at the National Tennis Centre, Bartlett, who tops the South West leaderboard, won three out of her four matches at Roehampton, to finish fifth.
Aryana trains six days-a-week at the Coombe Dingle Tennis & Sports complex and represents Avon Country in the U10s and hopes to be selected for the U12s.
Recently the ten-year-old met and trained with pro player Katie Swan. Seen above posing with her trophy from the Avon County Closed tournament last year, which bears Swan’s name, Aryana said:
“It was fantastic to be able to chat with Katie about her experience of being one of the youngest GB players turning professional and what is was like coming from Bristol to make it on the international circuit. She is definitely one of my heroines and hopefully if I work hard enough I might even join her one day representing GB!”
In the meantime Aryana is focusing on her next national event, the LTA Grade 2 event at Sutton Tennis Academy. If all goes well it could see her move up the national rankings once again and qualify for the Nike Invitational Summer Tour Finals in August.
