The 15-year-old Carlin driver was hit on the final corner of the first race that not only denied him a deserved-victory, but also the chance of going top in the Championship.
After a double pole in qualifying and leading the entire first race, it was a cruel blow to the Bristol Sport racer’s title aspirations.
But after a third-place finish in the final race, the ADD Motorsports driver was happy to get some points that leaves him third at the half-way stage overall.
He said: “I was pretty annoyed after the first race. I got a really good start and was racing really well, but Ticktum tried to take me on the last corner and took me out.
“The win would have put me top and given me another 25 points, so it’s disappointing. Instead, I finished last and had to start last in the second race as well.
“But I was happy to get the podium in the last race and get some more points on the board which keep me up there.”
Leading throughout race one, on the final lap Dan Ticktum attempted to squeeze past and instead hit his wing and rear wheel, causing Lando to spin and leaving him unable to finish.
Ticktum was later excluded from the results for an ‘avoidable collision’ with an appeal now in process.
Lando began the second race in last place and despite overtaking a handful of drivers, could only finish 13th by the end.
Starting in pole in the final race, he lost the lead at the start and spent most of the race hot on the heels of Ticktum, looking for a gap.
But on the 13th lap, the leader slowed down, causing Lando to do the same, giving Ricky Collard the opportunity to take second.
Lando couldn’t find a way back and was forced to settle for third place.
He added: “Our pace was good in the final race, but just not down the straight so I couldn’t find a way to pass either driver.
“I wanted to make sure I finished this race and at least get some points, which I did.
“It was a disappointing weekend all-in-all, but there are lots of races left and plenty of chances to close the gap.
“Hopefully, we can get back to winning ways again in the next round.”
Lando provisionally sits third in the Championship with 191 points, just 18 off leader Collard.
