The 15-year-old Carlin driver sits just 10 points off leader Collard in second place after a couple more podiums at Snetterton in the last round.
And at track where overtaking is notoriously difficult, he is focused on getting qualifying right – although hopes to be back among the winners when the racing starts.
The ADD Motorsports-supported racer said: “It’s a hard track to overtake on, with one main place where you have an opportunity.
“It means it’s mainly about qualifying well and giving yourself the best chance – and getting on that front row.
“I think I have a good chance of catching Collard, so I’m hoping for some wins and looking to get some good points on the board again.”
Lando was happy with two second-place finishes at Snetterton, although was disappointed not to have turned at least one of them into a win.
And last week, he was among the podiums again as he returned to the ADAC Formula 4 Championship inbetween his MSA Formula commitments.
Now, he is hoping to convert these solid finishes into wins and leapfrog Collard into the top spot with just four weekends of racing left in the competition.
Testing at Knockhill takes place this Friday, with qualifying Saturday morning. The first race gets going on Saturday afternoon, with the second and third, Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon, respectively.
