Captain Michael Klinger’s assertion ahead of the game that Gloucestershire expected to win proved prophetic as the Bristol-based outfit continued their remarkable One-Day final record – now standing at nine wins in their last ten finals.
Earlier in the day Surrey appeared in control on 143-2 having bowled Richard Dawson’s side out for 220.
But an incredible finish to the game at Lords saw eight Surrey wickets fall for 71 runs as they were all out for 214 with three balls remaining in the final over.
Surrey had won the toss and elected to put Gloucestershire in to bat first, a decision that looked good value after Richard Dawson’s men struggled to 220.
Jade Dernbach had put Somerset in the driving seat, claiming an incredible 6-35 , although ex-England wicketkeeper Geraint Jones, appearing in his final county match, scored a solid 50 to keep Gloucestershire in the game.
However, some erratic batting from Surrey saw Gloucestershire claim a famous victory and keep up their remarkable one-day final record.
