A group of 225th Bristol Channel Scouts have the ambitious task of turning a tumbledown boat shed into a well-designed new community space for scouts, cubs and beavers to use.
The scouts will be doing a bucket collection at Friday’s Bristol Rugby game (27th Nov) to raise money to go towards the £400,000 needed to complete the Spyglass Centre in South Bristol.
Group Scout Master Roger Whiter said: “It’s a place where our scouts will learn practical skills and great team work as they become young adults.”
He added: “The Spyglass Centre will also help us build stronger links with our community.”
The development is a community project and money will be raised from a variety of different sources but any donations at Friday night’s game will be gratefully received.
Thirteen-year-old Sea Scout Jack said: “Being a sea scout has taught me so much about sailing, rowing and things like that. It’s made me realise how much i like adventures and expeditions and hopefully we can do more when we have our new building.”
