Ranked 866th, wildcard Swan beat the 25-year-old ninth seed 6-3 6-4.
Her second round opponent saw a big step up in class for the 16-year-old, losing 6-3 6-3 to two-time Wimbledon quarter-finalist Tamira Paszek.
Despite the loss, Swan has cemented her reputation as one of British tennis’ brightest prospects having finished runner-up at the Australian Open girls’ tournament in January, and making her WTA Tour debut in Brimingham earlier this month.
