South Bristol Sports Centre is the venue for Tuesday morning’s session (10.30am-11.30am) at a cost of £4 – while Friday’s session is at The Park, Knowle from 3.30pm-4.30pm and costs £2.
The Community Trust works in partnership with LinkAge to deliver a slow-paced version of football, called Walking Football, which is aimed at the over 50s.
As the name suggests, Walking Football is non-contact and anyone that sprints, runs or jogs while the ball is in play will be penalised, and a free-kick will be awarded to the other team.
The Walking Football sessions provided are designed to help people keep an active lifestyle in a fun, safe and sociable environment. The emphasis of these sessions is firmly on participation rather than competition, making them suitable for males and females of all abilities.
Having featured on national and local television promoting the sport, the Community Trust deliver structured sessions for those who wish to compete as part of a team (within a local Walking Football league) and also those wanting to turn up and play primarily to have fun. Due to the popularity of the sessions, the Trust now operate two sessions throughout the city on a weekly basis.
Should you require any additional information on these sessions, please contact the Trust on 0117 963 0636 or e-mail mark.reynolds@bcfc.co.uk.
