The 54 -year-old, is on day four of his mammoth challenge where he will run the equivalent of  80 marathons over the next 80 days running to 92 stadiums.

Russell lost his mother, father, sister and brother over a 12 month period almost twenty years ago and the Macmillan nurses helped him through the difficult period. He always wanted to do something to say thank you and after recently retiring from the Police Service he thought now was the time,

“I have talked about doing something big for a while and my grandsons recent heart problems have made me realise now is the time.  So I am running my mad run for the two charities close to my heart”

Russell’s grandson was born with a rare heart defect and spent most of his early days at Great Ormond Street Hospital,

“if you saw him now you would think he was a normal little boy and that is all thanks to everyone at Great Ormond Street”

Russell arrived at Ashton Gate today and will carry on to Yeovil Town FC this afternoon.

Russell is raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and Great Ormond Street Hospital
