The fundraiser had been scheduled for Sunday, June 28th before falling victim to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic – but entrants can still support the event, and their chosen charities, by taking part in its replacement fundraising challenge.

While observing all Government guidance on exercise and social distancing, you can support Break the Cycle 2020 by cycling a minimum distance of 30 miles, nominating three people on social media to do the same (using #BreakTheCycle2020) and donating £5 by clicking here.

British long distance cyclist, author and broadcaster, Beaumont, an ambassador for LDC, the event’s headline sponsor, knows a thing or two about cycling fundraisers and currently holds the record for cycling around the world – and he has called on the people of Bristol to saddle up for a fantastic cause.

“I was planning to come down and be involved in Break the Cycle 2020 on the day, which of course now can’t happen, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get on our bikes and raise some money for charity,” he said.

“My background is in big expeditions and I hold the record for cycling around the world, which I’ve done twice – and I’ve worked closely, for the last 12 years, with LDC, who are a proud sponsor of Bristol Sport Foundation.

“So, I’m sorry I can’t come and cycle the miles with you, but the process is very simple: get out there and try and ride 30 miles, put £5 in the fundraising pot, and then nominate three other people to do the same. So, if you can, do that as early on in June as possible, then your nominations will multiply.

“Thank you for your support for amazing local sports charities, helping people who wouldn’t otherwise have access to sport. So, on your bike, 30 miles, £5 in the charity pot and nominate three others. Thanks for your support.”
